Poster ads for a college art festival in Alberta, Calgary. Completed: 7/4/2024
My goal was to make experimental, maximalist, chaotic, and overwhelmingly designed posters with WTF aesthetics to promote the SAIT Art Festival that showcases the unique creative skills of the art/design students. Creative people need a loud voice to be promoted. This is the core of this project. I needed a radical aesthetic that screams attention. These are the keywords that I kept in mind when making this project: Chaotic but unified, explosive, experimental, dadaist, and extreme.
For the fist versions above, I experimented with the extrude tool in Photoshop to achieve a glitchy and broken look. I also used the pixelate and noise effects to give it more texture. If you look closely, I used very distorted images of the campus exterior in all the posters.
For the 2nd batch of poster designs as seen above, I decided to make the text and copy bigger for readability purposes. I got the idea of putting intestines and weird guts on the design because intestines in our body look quite chaotic but they have unity and consistency, this matches up with one of the keywords I kept in mind for this project.
The project aims to bring people/non-students who are not in the institution. OOH advertising was used.
